Story
If you'd have asked us as a family this time a year ago what we thought the next year would bring, we'd have said welcoming three new babies in to the family, watching Em compete at World Championship level in weightlifting, spending time together as a family at Christmas, the list goes on- life was great.
It's funny how life can flip 180 degrees and change in the blink of an eye. Roll on January 2020 and devastatingly for our family, our beautiful Mum, the mothership, our best friend, the original Godley girl, has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This has absolutely turned our world upside down and changed life as we know it.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, leaving people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. There is no cure for this vile and utterly heart breaking condition. There is a lack of awareness with this disease and as such, us Godley sisters will be taking part in a 25km walk along the Thames bridges to help raise money and hopefully prevent other families from going through this heartache in the future. Every penny we raise will make a difference to people with MND and their families such as funding vital research to help find a cure and helping to support people living with MND now. Just £50 funds laboratory equipment for a days vital research into finding out the causes of MND. This event will just be the start of us raising money for the future.
For now, both Mum and Dad are being incredibly brave but Mum is being particularly courageous- something that we all take strength from. We are focusing on making happy memories and living each day to the max filled with loads of love and laughter. Life is fragile but as long as you have love, you have everything. "Everyone is a bit scared, but we are less scared together." Please, if you could spare any money towards our cause, we'd be forever grateful. Lets help find a cure together. Thankyou for reading, Laura, Eleanor, Louise and Emily- The Godley Gang.
