Nerve Tumours UK provides support and information, as well as campaigns and raises awareness on behalf of over 26,500 people in the UK who have NF, the group name for Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), NF2-related-Schwannomatosis (NF2) and Schwannomatosis (SWN).

Story

Endurance Athlete Amie Jacobs, also known as Amie "Live Wire" will be attempting Fastest Known Time (FKT) of the Official Wild Atlantic Way route, starting at Malin Head, County Donegal, and ending in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland.  Amie plans to complete the run of 1553 miles (2500 km) in 35 days or less.  It is our hope to be eligible for the Guinness World Record.  Despite our set back with Amie having a spinal injury, resulting in a delay of the endeavour by one year, we ready!

The entire endeavor will be used to raise funds for Nerve Tumours UK, an organization that works with patients with Neurofibromatosis (NF1 & NF2), a primarily genetic disorder mainly affecting the nervous system and skin.  The disorder can lead to serious health issues.  The Neuro Foundation's work for those diagnosed includes both treatment and research, and does so much for the patients and families.

Amie's husband and biggest supporter, Adam, has NF1 and personal experience with Nerve Tumours UK. Adam has overcome numerous setbacks and surgeries as a result of his NF1. But with the help of The Neuro Foundation he has managed to overcome his condition and come back to compete at a high level in OCR and Trail Running. Adam knows he is lucky in how he has been able to live with his NF1 but wants people to know that it does not have to define you.

As you can see, this charity is very dear to the hearts of the team, and as a result they have the drive and motivation to complete this endeavor, achieve the FKT, and raise as many funds for Nerve Tumours UK as possible.  It is our ultimate goal to raise enough to fund a new position for an entire year for the foundation.  They are in need of medical staff and others that make it possible for this organization to make the difference they do!
