Story
Goldenhar Syndrome is an 'umbrella' term for a wide range of bone abnormalities affecting the face and sometimes the vertabrae. Our children often have a number of facial differences and hearing problems. During their childhood, children with the syndrome can have a number of surgeries to help with hearing and jaw function, to reconstruct ears and create symmetry in the face.
We are friends and family of children born with this rare condition. Affected families have found a lot of joy in being part of the Goldenhar UK group. The group hold a family day every year where the children are growing up together and sharing their life experiences. Many stay in the group into adulthood. If it wasn't for the group, our children might never have met another child going through what they are going through. Parents also rely on the support of the other parents and adults with Goldehars. Without fundraising, the charity can't provide these brilliant and essential events.
Together, us 13 of varying abilities will cycle the 170 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington. From coast to coast, through a hilly landscape including the Lune Valley, Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Wolds
I am sure it will be a challenge for us all!!
Please support us so that as soon as we can all get together when restrictions lift, our children can be together and know that they are not alone with this condition.
