Gordon Gudger sadly passed away on 22nd May 2020 after a short illness surrounded by his close family.
If you knew anything about Gordon 'Gudge' Gudger you cannot fail to have realised what an incredible character he was. He could strike up a conversation in an empty room and would always speak as he found. His wicked laugh and the mischievous glint in his eye was no doubt key to the courtship and future devoted marriage of over 50 years to his late wife Doris.
In his younger days Gudge was a keen sportsman, playing football and cricket for his local clubs in Atherstone. He made a great number of friends during his time there and at Baddesley Pit where he worked for many years.
Later on in life, when he was no longer able to drive, Age UK helped him to retain some of his independence in the community by organising weekly trips allowing him to socialise, something that has always played a big part in his life.
We would love to hear stories about how you knew Gudge in the comments below and though these difficult times mean the funeral is unfortunately only open to immediate family, if you'd like to pay tribute to a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and all round top bloke, Age UK and the family would be so grateful.
His funeral procession will travel from his house on St. George's Road, Atherstone, down Long Street towards Nuneaton Crematorium between 9.45 and 10.15am on Tuesday 9th June 2020 if people would like to pay their respects on his final journey through his home town.
Thank you x
