Thames Kayak Guinness Record Challenge (Chris & Gordon) · 16 April 2022

The young people we work with need our help more than ever. They face challenges and may live in potentially harmful or disadvantaged environments. We use outdoor adventure and one-to-one support to empower them to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future.

Story

We (Gordon Bullock of Barking & Dagenham Canoe Club and Chris WC Sze of Bishop's Stortford Canoe Club) are both over the age of 60's and keen paddlers leading a very active lifestyle. We love to challenge ourselves in various ways as we share a common value, "to add life to years but not adding years to life". In April 2022, we will break a Guinness World Record, "the fastest time to paddle the length of the Thames by double canoe/kayak (Teddington lock)".  The distance is about 125 miles with 44 locks and  current record is 1 day 11 hrs, achieved by James Harland and Robin Gould, from 22 to 23 August 2020.

Taking this opportunity, we hope to raise some funds for the Youth Adventure Trust and help empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future.
