In memory of Gordon Riley
This campaign will lay the foundations for human trials of a pioneering therapy for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The fatal disease affects the brain and nerves and causes weakness over time. There is currently no cure for the condition.

Story

There are so many worthy charities that deserve to have fundraising done on their account but I have chosen one very close to my heart. My lovely, kind and incredibly brave friend Gordon passed away almost 4 years ago after a courageous battle with this horrible, cruel disease. His strength and bravery was absolutely inspiring and is a big reason why I'm so full of those annoying, positive quotes I'm always throwing at you... because if he can be such a positive inspiration whilst dealing with his own mortality then good grief I can certainly do it in his honour...

So... I will be swimming the equivalent of Loch Ness which is a mile, or 65 lengths of a 25m pool to you and me, over the course of the next 4 weeks. All donations to my page will be placed in a fund which is specifically in Gordon's name (but every penny goes to the charity) and you can sponsor me at any point over the 4 weeks or you can wait until I've completed the challenge. 1 mile may not sound much but for someone who swims like a little old lady riddled with arthritis it's gonna be a massive achievement for me!

Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for your donations 💚💚
