Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The Govan Salvation Army Community Church was founded in 1881 with the aim of bringing soup, soap and Salvation to the people of the town. Although 135 years have passed the members of the Govan Corps still have a work to do in the community showing the love of God to those in need. Amongst the corps various activities there is something for all ages; a weekly reminiscence group serving the older members of the community, two sessions of musical tots, a craft club and on Friday evenings the open door project helps the most disadvantaged in the area with a meal, clothes, toiletries and a listening ear. On a Thursday evening our "soup run" van can be found next to Govan underground station, offering drinks, food and fellowship to members of the community.
With this large and varied programme the current suite of buildings (built between 1903 and 1905) are no longer fit for purpose. Funds are being raised for a major redevelopment of the buildings that will allow the work of the corps in Govan to continue and expand.
Please support our efforts and help us build a better future.
Thank you
