The Rennie Grove Hospice is a local charity that provides 24/7 Hospice at Home care and allows patients with life limiting illnesses to choose how and where they want to be cared for, towards the end of their life. Also, the hospice provides a range of day services and support for the families of those receiving care, during the illness and throughout the bereavement period.
In February 2012, our Nan Ann unfortunately passed away from terminal lung cancer. During her last few weeks, our family stayed by her side until her last moments. Throughout this period of time, the nurses from the Rennie Grove Hospice visited our home and provided physical and medical care to our Nan, as well as offering ongoing emotional and bereavement support to our family.
Such care and support given to us by the Rennie Grove nurses allowed our family to make sure that our Nan felt comfortable and loved in her last few weeks with us, without them, this would not have been possible. Some of the fond memories our family shares of our Nan in her last few weeks are solely due to the hard work and incredible care we received from the Rennie Grove Hospice.
Therefore, to show our thanks and gratitude, we have decided to run the London Marathon in 2019 in memory of our beautiful Nan, Ann, and to raise as much money as possible for the Rennie Grove Hospice care, in order to finally give something back to such an amazing organisation, that supported our family through an extremely difficult time in our lives.
Anything you can donate, be it a penny or a pound, we would be extremely grateful for.
Also, if you fancy coming a long to watch us both for some entertainment on the big day, you're all more than welcome!
Lots of love,
Grace and Nancy xxx
