Story
Hi, I am Grace and I am 5 years old. During lock-down I learnt to ride my bike for the first time without stabilisers on Thursday 16 April 2020.
Therefore, I will be using this new achievement to take part in the 2.6 challenge to help support a local charity, the Great North Air Ambulance Service. I will be attempting to cycle 2.6 miles every day for 7 days, starting on Monday 20 April 2020 and finishing my last few miles on Sunday 26 April 2020.
To make sure me and my family are safe, I will be following government guidelines by maintaining my social distancing, using this as my one form of exercise each day and staying local for the challenge.
I would appreciate your support with my challenge, no matter how small the donation, thank you.
Save the UK's Charities General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
