Ipswich Half Marathon 2023 · 17 September 2023 ·

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As a person with Crohn’s disease, I am passionate about reducing the stigma attached to the chronic condition. I was diagnosed 6 years ago and it has been a life changing experience.

Being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease has been difficult, but it’s become a part of who I am. I am not defined by my disease, but my lived experience has helped to shape the person I am today. It has given me an appreciation of the issues people living with invisible disabilities face, and the discrimination they may experience. No one can see the depression, anxiety and stress that IBD can cause, but they are just as present and valid as anything physical and awareness of this needs to be improved.

So, I will be running the Ipswich Half Marathon to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. They are a charity dedicated to Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and other forms of inflammatory bowel disease. They’ve been a great resource for me learning about the disease, offering support and making me feel like I’m not alone with battling the condition.

I have only been running for a few months and recently completed my first 10k. I’m still new to the world of running so this is a massive challenge for me! Please support me with any donation big or small - myself and everyone living with IBD would really appreciate it 🤘🏻
