I'm about to embark on an 8 day challenge which will eqate to running 8 half marathons on consecutive days,or in other words for some people its 8 Great North Runs off the belt and more starting on SUNDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 2011!
T he itenary consists of the following....
Sunday 11th Sept 2011-Catterick Garrison Paratrooper Endurance Run (10 miles)
Monday 12th daily to Saturday 16th running along the route of Hadrians wall on both road and terrain in 6 stages/6 days as follows;
Monday 12th Sept - Bowness to Eden Bridge (14.4 miles)
Tuesday 13th Sept - Eden Bridge to Banks (14.6 miles)
Wednesday 14th Sept - Banks to Steel Rig (12.8 miles)
Thursday 15th Sept - Steel Rig to Wall (14.1 miles)
Friday 16th Sept - Wall to Heddon on Wall (14.7 miles)
Saturday 17th Sept - Heddon on Wall to Wallsend (15 miles)
Sunday 18th Sept - Great North Run (13.1 miles)
Total distance = 108.7 miles in 8 days (13.58 miles per day ave)
Monday 19th Sept....hot bath,fry up breakfast,couch,papers,sole use of TV control,sky sports and sky plus catch up,curry night!!!
The two Sunday runs were planned earlier in the year but I volunteered for the Hadrains wall run having seen childrens author Terry Deary on local news TV asking for some runners to join up for different days of the run(See www.terrysrun.co.uk ).He is the writer and creator of the 'Horrible Histories' childrens BBC series which both my daughters enjoy watching and he got my attention.The fantastic charity 'Intergrating Children' ( PLEASE SEE THEIR PAGE AND INFO TO APPRECIATE THEIR WORK WITH CHILDREN WHO HAVE DISABILITIES ) whom he has organised it in aid of are also based in the same area in Durham as the fire station I serve at so it all seemed a sensible and good idea (at the time!) to offer to run all six days..... and with that a challenge was born!.
I genuinely appreciate ANY donations you are able to make and hopefully I will exceed my target....all the best and thank you...
ps-I will update this page once I start my 8 day slog likewise my website www.GRASS.uk.com
