Story
At Planning Portal we have decided to take part in a cycling event annually for charity. Last year we took part in the Beyond Somerset Sportive, 69 miles of pretty flat Somerset levels before the painful 1,000 foot climb through Cheddar Gorge (at mile 53 I might add). This year, stupidly, we have decided to attempt the 102 mile route, and hit Cheddar after 83 miles 🤦♂️
Each year we get nominations for charities internally, then we share those nominations with our community, and users, to vote who we should raise money for.
Personally I am reply please to say that this years charity is Leukaemia UK. This was the charity I nominated, as recently my wife's very close (and very young) friend got diagnosed just before Christmas, was rushed into straight into isolation in ICU, with no visitation possibilities, leaving her partner and one year old boy behind. Chemo was started immediately, and ended up in a medically induced coma fighting infection, and organ failure.
She is now out of ICU and recovered enough to start her next programme of chemo, before the next phase of a bone marrow transplant.
Please support if you can, to help all those effected.
Many thanks,
Graeme
