Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

In August 2011 my friend, Helen, died in labour as a result of a very rare complication called Amniotic Fluid Embolism. She never got the chance to meet her beautiful daughter, Niamh. To celebrate her memory and the happiness she gave to me and everyone who knew her, my good friend and Helens husband Mark and Kristian Headland will be cycling from Woodhorn Museum, Ashington Northumberland to Paris in August/September 2012 to raise... funds for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and the AFE Foundation.

Instead of making a donation I decided I would also like to raise some money for these charities and have entered to run this years Great North Run for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People a charity that was very close to Helen and we are looking to raise in total £5000

We are looking to fundraise as much as possible in the coming year, culminating in cycling from Ashington to Paris, a place very special to Helen and Mark.
