Graeme's Ultra Marathon fundraising page

Thames Path Ultra Challenge 2022 · 10 September 2022 to 11 September 2022 ·
On Saturday 10th September, I am running a 61 mile (100km) Ultra marathon from Putney Bridge to Henley on Thames to fundraise for the RSPCA. I don't know why I am doing this - in reality being the old knacker I am, I should've had a bath in beans if I wanted to fundraise but good ideas has never been a forte.
I now work for the RSPCA. I had a complete career 180 and stepped away from acting and children's safeguarding to join the society as an 'Animal Rescue Officer'. I worked a few shifts during my 5 month training and have been on the road fully qualified since mid March and I've seen how much we are struggling and donations are needed, especially post Covid when fundraising opportunities were limited and times were tight. I thought I'd make a wee list of things I have personally rescued/saved during my time in the job so far:
Dogs (and Puppies), Cats (and Kittens), Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Hedgehogs, Squirrels, Foxes, Badgers, Muntjac, Roe Deer, Pigeons, Seagulls, Starlings, Blackbirds, Crows, Magpies, Rooks, Kestrels, Swans, Ducks, Canada goose, Bats, Corn Snakes & Pythons.
Right now, we are bursting at the seams with the influx of animals being abandoned, disregarded or neglected due to the a plethora of things including the horrific cost of living crisis we are currently experiencing. The RSPCA have some faults, however from my perspective on the frontline inspectorate - we do superb work and actually help and we rely solely on donations and charitable actions like this daft bugger running this daft distance to try and do 'my bit'. If you can spare some change, that would be greatly appreciated. If you can't but can share this link to family, friends and social media - that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Graeme.
