Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

In August I will take part in the Prudential 100 mile cycle event over the Olympic route from the Olympic Park to Box Hill and then back to The Mall.

Last year a close friend Mark Howe a friend and member of my Rotary Club died of Prostate Cancer and I will ride the event in is his memory.

I rode with him from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. He was planning to ride with me the 1000 miles from Calais to St Tropez but had to drop out, he however came along to support.

He never gave up, even after having been diagnosed with advanced Prostate Cancer he rode his sections of our annual 500 mile Xtramile Challenge through France, but as he could not sit down on his saddle he did it standing up.

Prostate Cancer research is hoping to find better methods of early diagnoses and had Mark been diagnosed earlier we may not have lost him!

He was a "Good Chap".
