Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you may know, our eldest little girl had a rough start in life, sp
ending a stressful 4 days in the intensive care ward 12 hours after coming into this world. Unsure what caused her severe jaundice and low Haemoglobin count, she underwent a series of blood tests.

The result was that she has Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency, a rare genetic blood dysfunction that affects 1 in 330,000 people (only around 12 affected in the whole of the Midlands!)

Now we have our latest addition to the Edwards family, Mabel Lily. She too has PKD and she too is a little fighter.

Both Amelia and Mabel need constant monitoring and support from the medical staff as they will now be transfusion dependant for life.

As their blood condition is so rare Drs are not 100% sure whether in the future they will need weekly, monthly or annual transfusions as every case is individual. So far they are both managing the condition well with just one transfusion each which took place in the Children's Clinic.

While we have learned as a family to deal with the condition our little girls have, the regular visits to the amazing Children's Clinic in Worcester are a constant reminder just how lucky we are!!!!

Back in 2012 you all helped me raise an amazing £1606 for the Children who attend that ward and with that money we were able to buy much needed presents, toys and books.
We have seen the joy these items have brought to all of the children.......

I'm fundraising again. This time I am doing a Marathon (Worcester -May),  the Avenger
70.3 triathlon - 1.5 mile open water swim, 56mile bike and half marathon at the end (Stratford - June) and a Mountain stage of the Tour de France up the legendary Col du Tourmalet (not against the pros. August).

That's 3 big challenges this year to try and raise a little bit more for the Children's Clinic that supports our little girls and the many other children from all over Worcestershire.

So while I don't expect to top 2012's amazing total, I would love to raise a few hundred pounds so that the staff can replenish items that calm the children and keep them entertained whilst attending Out Patient appointments, Consultant consultations, Allergy tests, Transfusions......etc, etc

Thanking you in advance
