I have decided this year, as my 38th consecutive Annual Charity Event, to walk 315 miles along the South West Costal Path for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

I am starting the walk on Wednesday 30th May and hopefully finishing in one piece in Poole, Dorset on Saturday 30th June 2018.

The RNLI crews have saved over 142,200 lives since its formation in 1824.

The RNLI maintains a 24 hour lifeboat search and rescue service manned by over 40,000 volunteers, who risk their own lives on a daily basis and are willing to put the needs of others before their own safety (https://rnli.org).

The RNLI are an independent charity who do not receive any funding via the Government, but rely totally on their unpaid volunteers and voluntary donations such as this.

My route will take me along coastal paths, rocky headlands and some challenging inclines, especially for a man of my age!

I will be passing 8 lifeboat stations on the way and hope to have members of lifeboat crews join me at certain sections, to raise the profile of the walk.

As always, the whole trip, including the accommodation and expenses will be entirely funded by myself, so every penny I raise will go to the nominated charity.
