7 Day Solo Lejog Charity Cycle. · 24 May 2010

We're Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). We care for children throughout Scotland with life-shortening conditions and their families. We make sure that no matter how short their time together may be, it is filled with happiness. Even in the pain of grief, we're determined that joy lives on.

Story

Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have chosen to Cycle 911 miles solo from Lands End to John 'O' Groats (LEJOG) starting on May the 24th 2010 in an effort to raise funds for a Childrens Hospice based in Balloch called Robin House. As most of you will know I enjoy my cycling but it will not make the task any easier as I will be averaging 130 miles per day and spending roughly 10-12 hours in the saddle each day which I am sure will present its own challenges and personal battles. These of course are all challenges and battles that are worth facing when you consider the support that hospices like Robin House offer to children and their families. Please take the time to have a look online at www.chas.org.uk/robin-house.html and see for yourself the wonderful facilities and help they offer.

I will be driving down to Lands End on the 22nd of May with my Dad who will be driving a support vehicle on the route back carrying a spare bike, clothing, drinks, food etc required for the 7 days of cycling. This has been made possible with the support of my own employer Diageo, Carntyne Transport and the John G Russell Group who are all supporting this Charity event and of course my Dad for giving up his time.

The route that I have mapped out is as follows.

Day 1 - Lands End to Tiverton via Lizards Point - 150 miles.

Day 2 - Tiverton to Leominster - 125 miles.

Day 3 - Leominster to Garstang - 145 miles.

Day 4 - Garstang to Abington - 145 miles.

Day 5 - Abington to Crianlarich - 110 miles.

Day 6 - Crianlarich to Inverness - 120 miles.

Day 7 - Inverness to John 'O' Groats via Dunnet's Head - 135 miles.

On Day 5 I plan to visit Robin House on route to Crianlarich to meet the Children and staff who are committed to supporting Chas and Robin House.

Once again, thanks for  taking the time to visit this page and hopefully supporting Robin House and me over the next 5 months when I will be training hard to ensure that even if faced with the typical British weather I will be fit enough to complete this route in one piece.
