Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the age of 51 (52 when I  take part in the race), I never thought I would be taking part in such a big event like this. Although I used to do orienteering when I was younger I certainly haven't run much further than 100m in the last 20 odd years of my life .

My first two days of training left me in agony with my knees and so I haven't done much training at all apart from a few bike rides so this long jog through Newcastle could prove very interesting!

As for me (Kim)  I'm the one who persuaded Graham to join me in the run. After hearing about all the excellent work going on in Kenya through the Isaiah Trust I wanted to help and at the time the Great North run sounded like a fantastic idea. As the day draws ever closer I'm not quite so sure!

Perhaps I could have found something a little easier!

Some training has taken place with my two children driving the whip as they cycle ahead urging me on. After just a few miles I usually look like a bright red beetroot who has just had a shower. (What a lovely image!)

The main things that will keep us going  will be our  two wonderful children willing us on and the knowledge that the money raised is going to help children in Kenya who have literally nothing. Children who find their food on rubbish tips, many with no family, no homes and whose only comfort in life may come from sniffing glue or taking drugs.

If you'd like to know how the Isaiah Trust helps children in these situations, please visit the Isaiah trust.
