At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On September 4th 2021, along with my son Matthew, I'm setting off on my bike from Lands End, and hope to be in John O Groats by September 12th. Total distance of 980 miles. Elevation gain 52,529 feet (the summit of Everest is 29,032 feet). We're hoping to raise £4,400 for the Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer's has touched my family. By 2025 it is estimated there will be 1 million people in the UK suffering from the disease. By 2050 it is likely to be affecting 115 million people worldwide. I know from the experience of our family that it doesn't just affect the old. There is no cure.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
