Books2Africa is a UK charity that collects and sends donated books to increase the quality of education in Africa by helping individuals and communities to access, read, and understand books, and to extend the life and impact of books by decreasing book waste and increasing book readcycling.

Story

My name is Graham.  I am 10 years old.  I am very lucky to go to a great school in London.

Lots of children  who go to school in Africa don't have a lot of money and they can't get great books like I can. Can you imagine a classroom that has no desks, no chairs, no computers and no books! I have found out that lots and lots of school kids who go to school in Africa won't  be able to read or write properly when they finish school.  I have also found out that in the UK we throw millions of books away every day.  One problem is the other’s solution!

So I have decided to climb Mount Meru to raise money for Books To Africa.  My goal is to raise at least £5,000 which is enough money to ship a container of more than 20,000 books to support different projects in Africa.

We will be doing the climb during my summer holidays in  August.  Mount Meru is the 2nd highest mountain in Tanzania and the 4th highest mountain in Africa at 4,566m high.  It is located in Arusha National Park.  We should be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro at the summit if we are lucky with the weather.  It will take me more than 4 days to do the climb. Lot's of people have said it will be very hard but I have decided to go for it!

It would be great if you could sponsor me to help me reach my goal!
