Graham's story

Stuart and I got chatting early 2018 and over a few beers decided we should celebrate my 60th and his 40th with a big bash.  Neither of us need any gifts, we just want to celebrate in style with family and friends.  We thought it could be a great opportunity to support charities that mean a lot to us.

I've chosen Sisterland, a charity I've been involved with for a while.  In May 2018 I visited to help set up a refuge for homeless women and children living on the streets in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  Sisterland is run by a team of fantastic, hard working women who are providing both a safe haven for these families and at the same time providing opportunities to develop skills for work to empower these women to build stronger, safer lives for them and their children.  I have a huge admiration for the work they are doing.  The refuge is already busy and supporting and changing lives.

Stuart has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as his charity and we are hoping that our friends and families share their donations in such a way to ensure we give equally to both charities.
