The skydive was originally meant to take place on 12 May 2020 but was postponed due to Covid. It was rearranged for 29 October 2020 but then was cancelled and has been rearranged for 20 April 2021 and I am promised that it will definitely go ahead and will raise much needed funds for charity. 

IRLA have chosen two charities to support during the 2019/2020 membership year - Alzheimer’s Research UK and Young Minds. We hope that you will consider donating at one of our events or by taking part in one of our charity fundraisers.

Both are great charities and need all the help that they can get.

Alzheimer's Research UK is a charity close to my heart.

In March 2016 I lost my Dad to the condition after a long battle and having watched him go from someone full of life to being bed bound and unable to speak; it was heart breaking for all of the family.

Dad's disease hid the fact that Mum had the condition as well, as his condition was far more advanced than hers. However, after his death it quickly became apparent that she was suffering from the disease as well and from June 2019 she has been in a care home and we are watching her go down a very familiar path.

I turned 50 this year and during the year I wanted to raise funds so that research into the disease can intensify in the hope that the progression of the disease can be stopped and if possible, an eventual cure.

Whilst it will be too late for Mum and Dad, it is my wish that my daughters (and thousands of others around the country) don't have to watch their parents and loved ones go through what I have experienced over the last 6 years and during what time we have left with Mum.
