Grand Canyon Trek 2015 · 25 September 2015
In September 2015 four wee lassies from Lanarkshire, Nicola, Gemma, Emma and Kirsten will take on the massive challenge of trekking the Grand Canyon for Kilbryde Hospice.
This sounds like a lovely holiday, however, even though we will get to experience the beautiful scenery of the Grand Canyon, we will also be taking on a gruelling 6 day trek involving 6-10 hours of walking per day through the blazing heat and tough terrain. Anyone who knows us will know we would be much more comfortable lazing on a beach with a cocktail in hand!
The reason we are taking on this challenge is to raise money for a great local cause, Kilbryde Hospice. Kilbryde Hospice is currently building a £3.8 million in-patient palliative care hospice on the grounds of Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride. They also run a drop in centre and home care service from the Red Deer Centre, East Kilbride. The charity exists to provide care and support to people with life limiting conditions (including cancer, Parkinson’s, motor neurone, MS and many others) in South Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas. Not only does Kilbryde Hospice support the patients, but also their carers and family. You can find out more about the charity by visiting www.kilbrydehospice.org.uk.
We would really appreciate if you were able to sponsor us for our trek and support this wonderful charity who really do need the money. We have given ourselves a massive challenge to try and raise £14,000 – but we would really like to smash our target! We can only do that with the support of people like you sponsoring us.
Please make the pain worthwhile and dig deep for Kilbryde Hospice!
