J’s amazing Grandpa is braving the salon chair on 11th March 2022 and is going all out with a rainbow Mohawk to raise money towards J’s TinyTrax powerchair. Not only are we so grateful for his fundraising efforts, but the boys will have the coolest Grandpa in town! 

Here’s a little bit about J and his story:

J is seven years old and has overcome so much! We were told that if he survived his first year, he would never be free of his ventilator, would never walk, talk or eat orally and that his life would be extremely limited.

He came off his ventilator at the age of 3, and by age 5 he had had his last tube feed, his tracheostomy stoma had been closed, he was walking and had started to talk! He is a little miracle!

He is the happiest child you could ever hope to meet, but he still has his challenges and needs a lot of support. He is visually impaired, he is very wobbly on his legs and needs mobility aids to get around. His mobility fluctuates, he has a long cane, a walking frame, a wheelchair buggy and a powerchair that he uses at different times depending on his energy levels and ability that day.

He has had a Wizzybug powerchair on loan from a charity for the last two years that has been amazing for him but he now needs a chair that’s a bit more age appropriate and will allow him to keep up with his brothers and friends, with a bigger battery and better motor. The TinyTrax chair is the lightest powerchair available for his age range, has a much bigger battery capacity and is very capable off-road on hills, grass, gravel and country tracks. 

Tree of Hope collect all donations in a pot specifically for J, which allows us to claim gift aid on eligible donations as they are a charity. They will pay TinyTrax directly for the chair once we have raised sufficient funds. 7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover their core operating costs.

If we raise surplus funds, then the funds will be used, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects, for example - other equipment or therapies he needs.
