MicroLoan Foundation is a social microfinance institution providing business loans & training to women facing poverty in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We have provided loan capital and training to over 512,000 women to help them build small businesses. This also supports 2.6 million dependents.

Story

 The Grand Walk 2006 is now complete! Thanks to everyone who helped organise the walk and of course all our 130 walkers.

Why:          To raise funds for the Microloan Foundation  

 

How far:    50km or 15km – choose your challenge!

Target:      1000 walkers raising £100 or more!  

The 50km challenge begins at Brentford Lock                                         The 15km challenge begins at Paddington                                               Both routes will end at Limehouse Basin 

Once you have signed up your will be sent an email with some helpful hints about how to maximise your sponsorship and - especially for those considering the 50km route - some all important information on fitness levels and preparation as well as where you need be on the day and a map! 

All money raised through the Grand Walk will go directly  to help  provide small loans, basic business training and on-going mentoring support to poor people in sub-Saharan Africa to enable them to develop self-sustainable livelihoods, to feed, clothe and educate their families, and work their own way out of the poverty trap.

The MLF has made over 7,500 loans to date, supporting a total of almost 50,000 people – many of them children orphaned by AIDS. With 97% of loan capital repaid in full, money raised by the charity through The Grand Walk will continue working to provide a dignified long-term solution to endemic poverty for literally years to come. 

The Individual over 18 who raises the most sponsorship money will win a Year of Beer from Fuller's (16 cases of beer). There will also be a prize for the walker under 18 who raises the most sponsorship.
