Last summer I had a crazy idea to run the world. I didn't have a clue how or when I would do it, but figured it would keep me focused for a bit. I started with a Run to Work, flying from my home in Leeds to Schiphol before running 233k across Netherlands to Germany. A few months later I left Essen and ran west to Eversberg covering 150k in wintery conditions over 4 days. That was the warm up.
I wanted a platform to talk openly about something we don't talk about enough, the fact that over a third of all women suffer domestic abuse - violence from their partner in the home. I'm a survivor and I know how hard it is to talk about and how much it impacts every aspect of your life. We have to stop it. I want to show victims and survivors that there is hope , there is help and they can change their lives, believe it and ask for help - do NOT be ashamed.
Please show your support so that our sisters, mothers, daughter and friends don't suffer anymore, we have to stop it. Women’s Aid tirelessly support victims and their families, whilst working with governments to improve services and effect change.
I'm dedicating this run to the memory of an amazing man, Will Dimmock who is dearly missed by all of his family and friends. You will never be forgotten Will.
Huge thanks to my sponsors Mike, Tim and the team at Yorkshire Runner in Otley, Altra and Ron Hill without whom this would not be possible.
