Story
On 10th September 2023, I completed my 3rd Great North Run. The very next day, I was at the doctors for an issue unrelated to anything prostate. I was 51 at the time, never been to the doctors in over 10 years, had never taken medication and all of a sudden, I was catapulted into a world of bloods, scans, appointments, treatments and medication. I didn't have any symptoms, yet my prostate cancer diagnosis was confirmed. I have had and continue to have the most incredible GP and NHS care, the love of Clare, Freddie, my family and friends and will finish my treatment this December. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's one dad, partner, brother, son, grandad, uncle or mate. It's going to take everything I've got physically this year, but I'm determined to run the GNR this year to raise money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
