Story
Hi All,
I'm running the 2026 Great North Run for Prostate Cancer UK.
Welcome to my latest challenge and for the best of reasons I hope my last for a while. My regular supporters will know that I tend to sign up for another challenge when I have lost someone close to me. In recent years I have taken part in fundraising events in memory of my Brother, Mum and Father-in-Law.
By the time I tackle the Great North Run 2026 it will have been almost 6 years since Prostate Cancer ended Dads life, so it has been a long time coming.
Most of you will know that Dad was a runner who, like myself, took it up later in life. This began largely to support my brother Paul and myself in training for our school sports days. Although for many years he was the only one of us to carry on with running!
Dad even took part in the Great North Run in 1999 when he was 65 so this seems to perfect way to honour him and raise funds in his memory.
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's one dad, partner, brother, grandad, or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for donating if you are able. All donations extremely gratefully received.
