Story
I'm running the 2026 Great North Run for Prostate Cancer UK in memory of my father in law Paul. Paul was an amazing Dad to my wife Rachel, and an incredible grandad to our four children, his kindness and generosity were unrivalled. As a father in law he welcomed me in to his family from day one, treating my like his own son, every birthday card was signed “From Dad” and that really made me happy. He would watch the football even though he wasn’t really interested in it, just so he could talk to me about the games.
Family holidays were special, he’d save his pennies all year, and would take the kids off to spend them in the arcades while Rachel and I had a much needed rest. Every Christmas I think he was more excited than the kids! Toys were opened and ready to be played with as soon as they were unwrapped. Seeing his grandkids happy was what he enjoyed the most.
He loved his garden, if it was sunny you’d find him sat round the back of his house with a cup of tea in his hand. He’d have a list of ideas he’d come up with to plant some flowers and will tell you all about them.
Sadly Paul lost his battle with cancer on 15th September 2025, I’d like to raise money to help other families affected by this illness, and enable earlier diagnosis to save the lives of more men.
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's one dad, partner, brother, grandad, or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
