Story
I'm running the 2026 Great North Run for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK however almost double the amount of men in the North are being diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, in comparison to those being diagnosed with the metastatic stage in the South.
Prostate cancer is a disease incredibly close to my heart, especially as the laboratory I’m undertaking my PhD in is a prostate cancer research group. Our research focuses on drug discovery and diagnostics: to develop personalised treatments specifically for men at high risk of their prostate cancer spreading and for men for whom other treatments have stopped working whilst aiming to generate a more accurate method of detection. I’m raising money to help fund more lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
