Their Story...
Just under 4 and half years ago Finley Larcombe then aged 7, was unfortunately diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) This of course was a huge shock to the whole family and anyone who knows them!
Finley, along with the unwavering support from his family, friends, hospital staff and charity's including Young Lives vs Cancer (formally known as CLIC Seragent) fought this horrendous disease head on, all while the world got turned on it head during Covid 19 and lockdowns etc..3 years 3 months later in February 2022 Finley had finally finished his lengthy and gruelling treatments!
Fast forward a year of adjusting to normal life outside of constant hospital appointments, tests and treatments Finley now aged 11 and his family were finally beginning to build their lives back to some sort of 'normal'. They even had a trip of a lifetime booked for DisneyLand Florida that they would of been going on in a couple of weeks! (this was made possible due to Make a Wish charity and fundraising locally.)
However, this February 2023. A year post treatment the one thing that anyone post Cancer treatment has to live with daily and that is feared the most unfortunately became a reality as Finley was diagnosed with relapsed ALL.
This of course has been devasting news that I know is still hard to comprehend for Finley and his family. They are now facing a minimum of 2 more years of treatment, tests, hospital visits and all the emotional and physical battles that come with it!
Of course, because this is Finley he will absolutely battle his way through it with a smile on his face and that fighter spirit that we all love him for!
Young Lives Vs Cancer really is a lifeline for children like Finley and their families! I've witnessed first hand just how supportive they really are. Just £38 will help provide a room in a house and facilities to stay right next the the hospital, meaning parents can take it in turns to get some much needed rest bite during treatment or Finley can stay there too during some parts of his treatment.
They also provide social workers who are there to offer much needed support along the way...
Now I don't class myself as a 'runner' as such, however this will be my second Half Marathon but my 1st ever race on my own!
Although this does feel daunting, I know that I will get these miles done for Finley and his family and I will be absolutely be running each of them with my heart for them all! ♥️
If you can please sponsor to complete the 13.1 mile race, it really really would be so appreciated as it really would be making a HUGE difference to all the families effected by childhood cancer.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your support and donation, it really does mean the world ❤️
