Great Hospital Hike 2023 · 16 September 2023 ·

King’s Pranic Healing Research and Development team with the Multidisciplinary teams within Child Health have cared for and transformed the lives of many sick children and adolescents at King’s College Hospital.

Story

On Saturday 16th September we toke on the 18 mile Great Hospital Hike and walked across South London to fund-raise for King's College Hospital Charity which supports innovation and world class treatments for patients.

This challenge was our way of saying THANK YOU and to give back to the charity who funded a clinical trial that our children took part in.  In this trial they received treatment that has been transformational to their health, well-being and recovery from serious illnesses.

The trial has been ground breaking both in its success in significantly helping the majority of participants but also because the treatment is non invasive, not drug based and is complementary to conventional medical treatments.

We aim to raise as much money as we can to help more children under the care of the hospital and to contribute to more trials,

Ushma's Story

In July 2022, Gastroenterology Consultant, Dr Hope invited our son to a Pranic Therapy Clinical trial for pain management.  The trial has given our child his future and life back.

Many people have been involved in our son's care and all have been compassionate and exceptional, particularly when it came to actually listening and believing our son.

A huge thank you to all the Consultants, NHS staff across all the various departments, the  team conducting the trial and all the staff  at DPL and Westminster School.

My hope and vision is that one day alternative treatments will be openly accepted by hospitals and included as part of students medical training around the world.

Annabel's Story

My daughter Ingrid was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the beginning of 2019.  It was quite severe, with complications that did not respond to drug treatments.  She had surgery at King's in March 2021 which helped her physical symptoms.  However the multiple interventions, emergency hospital admissions, IV drug treatments and long hospital stay for surgery took a huge toll mentally.

When she was invited to take part in the clinical trial in Pranic Healing in July 2022 she was experiencing high levels of anxiety, frequent stomach pain and was having daily flashbacks from the trauma of what she'd been through, all of which had been exacerbated by the pandemic.

The treatment she received in the trial was transformative. By week 7 of weekly treatments she was no longer having flashbacks and we were able to significantly reduce a key medication. In September she was able to attend school full time for the first time in 3 years.  Since then she has had a normal school year, going from strength to strength and is flourishing both socially and academically.

More importantly she has a renewed sense of purpose and confidence in the future, in particular in wanting to study medicine.  This positive attitude and resilience largely came from the Pranic Healing treatments in the trial and the encouragement she received from Les and Anju who delivered the study.  Previously in her depressed state, Ingrid felt hopeless and that nothing ever worked for her, and that her Crohn's would simply return.

We are incredibly grateful to Ingrid's Gastroenterology Consultant Dr Ben Hope for putting forward his patients for the trial, for the King's College Hospital Charity for funding it and last but not least, to the team conducting the trial who are extraordinary individuals dedicated to helping sick children.

Annette's Story

My son Lewis was 4 years old when he was first tested for food intolerances. We were seeking answers to his constant stomach ache.  When he was 7 years, I casually asked him what he would choose if he could have anything in the world, and he answered, “I just want to feel better.”   By 12 years Lewis’ pain and symptoms had escalated and he was diagnosis with gut-brain interaction, and we were told nothing could be done, but to try alternative medicines. But by this stage, we had already trialled many with no success and Lewis not only lost complete hope in living pain free, his condition was now negatively impacting his mental health.

It was not easy trying to balance school, travel, singing, concert tours and friends with pain, as well as allergens, asthma and blackouts. In 2022, we transferred to Kings College Hospital and Lewis was invited to participate in the Pranic Healing trial. I was keen, as I wanted no stone left unturned, yet he was despondent.  After the first treatment, Lewis was pain free. Extraordinary to believe I know, and I would struggle to believe had I not been in the room to witness the change, but it was what happened and it was a transformation.

I am now studying Pranic Healing to be able to continue to support Lewis, my daughter Millie who lives with chronic migraine, as well as others. Millie has not had the dramatic changes that Lewis experienced but has had some benefits.

Thank you to Dr Shah at Balham Park Surgery, Dr Lee at King's (Lewis was the first child she referred to the Pranic Healing trial) and of course the incredibly hardworking team, in particular Les and Anju, who brought Pranic Healing to King's, that has in remarkably short timescales helped so many young people. I am truly grateful for all you have done to support my family.

Please donate whatever you can.  All the children and families whose lives will be positively impacted will be unreservedly and immensely grateful.

🙏

We are now focusing on future trials aiming to evaluate the
benefits of Pranic Healing complementary treatment for children and adolescents living with inflammatory disease and psychological disorders.

Future trials with Pranic Healing aim to evaluate the benefits of treatment for inflammatory diseases, including poorly controlled
Asthma, severe Eczema, Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

An aspect of Pranic Healing treatment is Pranic Psychotherapy. This treatment aims to improve emotional and motivational
behaviours, inclusive of those associated with suicide, self-harm and major depressive disorders. The complementary treatment aims to improve emotional and motivational dysregulation in patients.

Our proof-of-concept clinical trial findings, demonstrate
remarkable improvements with our young patient’s living with mental health disorders such as OCD, PTSD, suicide ideation and depression. Our patients experienced a restoration of emotional balance, resilience, concentration and mental clarity, leading to improvements in quality of life.

The COVID -19 pandemic has caused a pandemic of mental
health difficulties in children and adolescents, resulting in an exponential increase in waiting lists and increased pressure on mental health services. Currently there is a high demand for complementary therapies and treatments to help support the most vulnerable children and adolescents in our society.

The need for effective well researched complementary  therapies and the exponential growth in mental health disorders amongst our young patients since COVID-19 has led to the development of our clinical trial focused on assessing the neurological changes, leading to behavioural changes in young patients with suicide attempt, suicide ideation and self- harm behaviours on completion of Pranic Psychotherapy treatment.

We aim to raise £350,000 to complete our patient-focused
research.

Your generous donations will help us progress with the
development and delivery of our future clinical trials, aiming to help our most vulnerable patients with this effective natural complementary treatment.

Thank you so much for your contribution, it will mean so
much to our patients and their families.
