Story
The Zikomo Trust (which means 'Thank you' in Chichewa) is very dear to me and has played a large part of my growing up in Africa and the Uk.
It was founded by my father over 26 years ago. It has changed and transformed the lives of many underprivileged people in Malawi.
Now I’m a trustee of Zikomo, I would like, with the help of others (and me doing a stupidly hard challenge) to raise money for this great charity.
The grass route projects we have set up and support are endless but to name a few:
- Helped to build and supports several Orphanages throughout the country (Open arms and Jacaranda House). Providing financial support together with clothing, toys, blankets, baby products and nappies. Along with specialist equipment for the handicapped.
- Malama Feeding Centre. Helping with clothing, feeding, education and medical care for +220 kids, elderly and HIV+.
- Provide Medical equipment and medicine to 4 Hospitals. Including a premature baby unit, eye hospital, orthopedic units and several outreach programs. We send out 1-2 freight containers a year from the UK of essential medical and educational supplies.
- Providing better education. Built 18 classrooms, a school for the blind, 2 science labs, 2 libraries. Supplies educational material and equipment to these and many other village schools. Set up grants for children so that they can attend school and through their education help themselves out of poverty.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and every penny donated goes directly to vastly improving lives.
To give you an idea, £25 will feed and clothe an orphan for a year at one of our centers.
Please donate generously and ZIKOMO! (thank you) for your support,
Kind regards,
Greg Brindley
