Story
Hi everyone, I was planning on doing the Great North Run, but now due to the current pandemic and also my wife being pregnant, I am unable to participate. I still have a passion for completing a half marathon, to raise money for Sporting Chance Clinic.
Sporting Chance are a charity that help professional and ex-professional sports people, that are struggling with mental health, gambling addiction, alcoholism or other drugs.
My struggle over the past 6 months to a Year has been mental health, from which I received counselling from the Sporting Chance Clinic. As men, we choose not to speak about our feelings and think mental health is not really a problem, well guess what? IT IS. When I first thought of going for counselling, I thought what a load of rubbish this will be, but you know what, it has changed my life, in the way I think and the things I do, it has changed me as a person. I am now happy for the experience that I have had, which might sound strange, but I feel it has made me realise and now I can give back and to support others in any way I can, that may be struggling.
''If we hurt our back, we go and see a physio, if our mind is hurt we just leave it and forget about it''
Counselling was my physio for my mind.
Really appreciate everyone taking time to read my story and would be grateful for any donation, to help raise money for this cause.
Much love
