Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am running 223 miles from London to Liverpool in 11 days (excluding one rest day). To help me on the way I'll be ably assisted by my good friend and top vibes man Adam Yates, who I hope will be able to cycle, read a map and bark supportive slogans in my direction when my legs have forgotten who owns them.

I have chosen MacMillan, as they are a wonderful charity who have offered fantastic support to me and my family and to many others around the country. I hope you will support our efforts to raise money for them so that they can continue to help cancer sufferers and their family members when they most need it.

You can follow our progress in a daily blog I'll be updating after each stage on Guardian.co.uk/sport from the 22nd April 2008.

The full painful schedule is as follows:

Tuesday 22nd April, Day one: London to Watford – 18.9 miles

Wednesday 23rd April, Day two: Watford to Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire – 21.1 miles

Thursday 24th April, Day three: Eaton Bray to Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire – 22.8 miles

Friday 25th April, Day four: Stony Stratford to Daventry – 20.1 miles

Saturday 26th April, Day five: Daventry to Coventry – 20.5 miles

Sunday 27th April, Day six: Coventry to Birmingham – 20.3 miles

Monday 28th April, Day seven: Rest day in Birmingham. I think we’ll be due a sports massage and a couple of well earned pints.

Tuesday 29th April, Day eight: Birmingham to Wolverhampton – 17 miles.

Wednesday 30th April, Day nine: Wolverhampton to Stone, Staffordshire – 21.8 miles

Thursday 1st May, Day nine: Stone to Weston near Crewe – 20.2 miles

Friday 2nd May, Day 10: Weston near Crewe to Chester – 20.6 miles

Saturday 3rd May, Day 11:
Chester to Birkenhead ferry terminal – 19.6 miles

By this point I’ve got a feeling we’ll be a bit too tired to swim over the river so I reckon we’ll just get the ferry and then stagger to the Liver building to officially end the run.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Gregg.
