Story
As a company, Greggs support Children In Need nationwide, running campaigns in stores introducing products such as doughnuts and ring buns to raise money for BBC Children in Need.
Children in need as a charity support disadvantaged children and young people all across the UK. With their annual support, they able to change almost half a million young lives across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland every single year.
With Greggs shops doing all they can each year to help raise funds for the charity, we thought that this year was a perfect opportunity for some of the head office staff to pitch together and try and contribute as much as we can towards overall contribution set by Greggs.
Therefore, as a core 24 players, we have decided to partake in a 24 hour, 7 a side football match.
The match will kick off at 3pm on the 15th November and finish at 3pm on the 16th November and will be hosted at the Quorum Business Park in Long Benton - Newcastle where Greggs Head Office holds residence.
Team structure will consist of 24 core players, with rolling subs in a 7-a-side game but will also have guest appearances with management and directors from Greggs and surrounding business park companies on the Friday Morning.
Each player will be required to be around for the full 24
hours, and will take part in a rolling sub scenario throughout the entire
period to make sure everyone involved gets enough rest between their playing stints. The teams will consist of 7 players on each side at any one time and the teams will be “Team Pudsey” vs “Team Blush”.
To put the challenge into perspective each player is estimated to travel well over the length of a marathon.
We are also looking at additional ways of fundraising in the surrounding area with a fan-zone being erected over the Friday lunchtime.
JustGiving sends your donation straight to BBC Children
in Need and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your
donation is worth even more.
