London to Syria Challenge · 8 September 2020

We uses laughter and play to deliver emotional first aid to children when they need it most. Our playful performances create safe, joyful spaces which offer immediate solace, providing a supportive environment for thousands of children in some of the most challenging places on earth.

Story

A group of Clowns Without Borders friends and supporters is collectively going to run, walk, cycle, swim, strut, dance, etc., the distance from CWB's London base to Syria, where the clowns would be working right now if not for Covid-19 (which is taking a terrible toll on refugee camps globally). That's nearly 3,000 miles, so we're divvying up the distance as our time and bodies allow!

Around this time of year, I usually raise money for CWB by running the Royal Parks Half-Marathon. Covid-19 has cancelled that event, so in lieu I'm going to run (and occasionally walk, hike and swim) the equivalent of four FULL marathons across the course of four weeks - 104 miles/167km. That's an average of 26 miles/42km a week, which is a lot for these aging bones. It's also a lot of time, so I'll be moving morning, noon, night...whenever I can.

But I can only do it with your support. All money raised will go to CWB's remote training work, whether it's skilling up play volunteers in Syrian camps or bringing playful (and effective) approaches to Covid-safe hygiene to Rohingya refugee children in Bangladesh.

Please give if you can...all currencies accepted! If you want to put your own feet on the line and join our fundraising group, drop me a line.
