Story
I am doing this walk for a couple of reasons. First, Yellow Submarine has run sessions during the week which my brother, Kim, has gone to and really benefited from. He's met lots of people his age, enjoyed himself and learnt some really useful skills. I think they are a fantastic charity and I am really glad for the opportunity to help them out. Second, I think this will be an interesting, but challenging, way of seeing the country from top to tail!
Here's what Yellow Submarine say about themselves, as its probably better to let them do the talking...
"We believe people with learning disabilities deserve to live life to the full. Our goals are to: Keep our members safe from harm; help our members to live full and happy lives; provide families with support which exceeds expectations; empower our members to no longer need us. Our goals are achieved through our projects which build our members social skills, confidence, independence and ultimately their employability. We support people with mild to moderate needs from the age of 11 onwards."
