We did it!

We started on time at 4:30am and completed our first round at 7:15. After a quick bacon roll, we teed off again at 7:48 and completed at 10:35. Because bad weather was forecast later, we teed off for the third round at 11:00 and completed at 2pm. After a quick shower and lunch, we teed off for the final round at 2:50pm and walked up the 18th to a great reception at 6pm.

We scored a total of 541 stableford points, with 18 birdies including 9 twos.

Extra credit goes to Ivor and Steve for carrying for all four rounds, and particularly to Steve who was in real pain with his hip for the last two rounds when many of his tee shots were accompanied by screams of pain. However, his response to the question of "are you OK" was always that we were doing this for people in a much worse situation than him and was going to get to the end come what may.

Well done Guys!

Once again, a Huge Thanks to everyone who donated or helped us on the day.

Well, it all starts in 10 hours! We really are incredibly touched by all of your generosity and we will take your kind thoughts, insults and inspiration onto the course tomorrow ;-). When it starts to get tough, I promise that we'll all remeber that well over 100 people (and counting!) have responded to our cause. We do hope that some of you will join us for a beer in the clubhouse at the end of it all tomorrow evening. Come and assess the damage!

Once again, thank you all very much.

Steve, Ivor, Scott and Andy

The Original Story:

At first glance, especially to non-golfers, this may not seem like much of a challenge. However, anyone who has ever played 36 holes of golf in a day knows that it really takes it out of you. Who knows what double that amount is going to feel like?

Certainly, non of us think that the 20 mile walk hitting over 300 shots each is going to be easy. We'll be starting before 5am and don't expect to finish the fourth round until Sunset.

Steve Griffiths and Juliet Platt, Captains of Wrag Barn Golf Club are already supporting the Seve Ballesteros Foundation this year, and this event seems like a nice complement to that. The Seve Foundation is supporting Cancer Research to help people who may get the disease in the future, whereas Macmillan supports people who are living with the disease right now.

We are playing the Longest Day Challenge on June 14th which is a poignant date for Andy as it would have been his Dad's Birthday, had we not lost him to a brain tumour in 1996. We were helped by Macmillan back then and it's great to be able to give something back.

We'd be very grateful for any support you can give. Thanks!

PS We've already been blown away by the generosity of our friends. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated.
