The burden of a cancer diagnosis in your teens or early twenties is particularly distressing. By working in partnership with our wonderful associates and fundraisers we hope in some way, to make this very frightening experience a little easier.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Joe  'Joey G' was diagnosed with a Pineal Germ Cell Tumour (Teratoma) on March 17th 2008 and sadly lost his battle with the disease on the 29th Septmeber 2009. As part of Joe's inherent nature, he was accepting, good humoured and never complained about the burden that had been thrust upon him. To the contrary, he always had a smile on his face and became a mentor and friend to the other young people...

This is why his family (Craig, Alyson and Sam) together with Joe's close friend's set up the Joe Gilligna Trust - to carry on what Joe did despite being so unwell. Joe was truly inspirational - he entered the world prematurely on June 29th 1989 and left us prematurely on September 29th 2009. He is proof beyond doubt that you don’t have to live a long life to make a positive and long lasting impact on others.

The trust exists to support and improve the lives of teenagers and young adults fighting with Cancer. Joe is deeply missed and we would appreicate your support to help others who find themselves in the same position Joe - please dig deep and donate now.
