Story
We are running in support of the great work done by Alzheimer's UK for families and communities affected by this complicated disease. By now we will all have people we know living with Alzheimers, and some of us may know people we love very much. Our team name, Goldigrs, was chosen because it reminds us that in spite of the sadness and anger at what this disease takes from us, there is a person at the heart of it who just wants to live the best life they can. And our person, Ann Making, my Mom and Kestrel's Nanna, brings us joy every moment that we spend with her. Last summer the song (Gold Digger, by Kanye West) became our 'groove' while we laughed, danced, and dried some dishes together. Having the team named in memory of small, ridiculously special moments like that might just get us through the training for this Half Marathon, and across the finish line. Greg and I probably wouldn't be running this had Kestrel not asked us to run a Half Marathon with her. And we wouldn't be running Southend Half if it hadn't popped up in June, a time when the three of us could do it together. It has been fun staying in touch while we train in different parts of the UK, and exploring a new part of the UK will be a fun adventure again when we visit Southend on Sea. Thank you for your support.
