Winter is a tough season for any greyhound or lurcher to find themselves cold, hungry or without adequate shelter. These are the hounds we work especially hard to rescue and bring into our care.
Please support our Christmas appeal to raise vital funds for essential veterinary care this winter.
An increasing number of greyhounds and lurchers arrive in our care in a a far worse state than ever before, needing more intensive care and therefore costing more to treat. Without our intervention many would not survive.
Sadly, the Christmas period usually sees a higher demand for us to take in dogs at short notice. Often they've been abandoned due to illness or deliberate injury.
Lucky to be alive at all, tiny Eimaer was found in a gutter weighing only 5kgs. She was mange-riddedn, had no fur and was covered in sores. Barely alive, she somehow knew she'd been rescued and grabbed onto life with everything she had left. Eimaer now lives happily with two other hounds and brings riches beyond measure to her family and all who meet her.
Saskia arrived with a broken jaw and in great pain but a wonderful orthopaedic surgeon and lots of love and care quickly put her on the road to a full recovery. Roddy, on the other hand, has pages of vet noes and it took 8 months to get on top of his illnesses. These days this charming greyhound gives no thought to his heart and digestive conditions and enjoys life on his very own forever sofa.
Thanks to your support we can continue to give essential veterinary care to hounds like Eimaer, Saskia and Roddy, helping to ensure their survival and future wellbeing as they live a full and happy life as a pet.
We cannot imagine a better Christmas gift.
Thank you xx
