Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my volunteering expedition to Peru.
The Sacred Valley in Peru is rife with poverty and many of the inhabitants of the region, the closest descendants of the Incan Empire, are often unable to meet even the most basic of needs. Food and clean water are privileges, rather than being everyday. Educational provision is particularly poor in this region, with many having to travel for hours just to reach their nearest school. The young indigenous girls, more often than not, never even gain access to education despite this being seen as a basic human right in the UK. Not only this, but many of these schools are in a particularly uneffective state, with infrastructural deficiences, insufficiently qualified teachers and a shortage of educational materials making the education that some do get not up to any real standard.
My chosen charity, the Future Sense Foundation, works on projects in these disadvantaged communties, as well as those similar across the world, so as to change the lives of those not so fortunate for the better. In these projects, the charity actively work on: improving education, helping to create sustainable livelihoods, saving rainforest by recovering the tropical ecosystem and being a part of hospital volunteer team.
