Story

Zoe and I had been looking at doing the 3 peaks challenge and as we discussed this further and looked into it, we wanted to use our efforts to benefit others too.

My Dad passed away from Scleroderma in 2011 and I witnessed first hand the impacts this disease can have on someone's life. It was very difficult for all of us as there are limited treatments and understanding of the disease, which makes it very hard to gain diagnosis and currently there is no cure.

During this time my Mum and I received support from Willen Hospice, who were especially helpful to my Mum, as Dad returned home from Hospital to complete his Palliative care. The nurses who attended our house were amazing and made the time we had left with Dad as pleasant as it could be.

They continued to provide us with support after he passed and also attended the Funeral. We would not have been able to accommodate Dad and his wishes to be at his home when he died, if it wasn't for their incredible efforts and care.

We are planning to start our journey at Ben Nevis on Wednesday 12th April, complete the climb, before driving to Scafell Pike and then driving to Snowdon. We will be completing this unguided and with out the use of a driver or any additional help. We will take all supplies within the van and only be stopping to complete our climbs. We have been kindly provided transport from the Stephenson Trust, for the journey and will complete all aspects of the climb and the drive, on our own, within, the 24 hour period.

This is something that neither of us have done before and wanted to complete a challenge that would push us. This is so we could show our appreciation to the causes that we are raising money for.

Both of the charities' regularly go above and beyond what they need to, to provide care and make a genuine difference to peoples lives. With our climb we are hoping the money we raise, will go some way towards helping them to continue the incredible work they do and allow the people who work within them, to understand how appreciated and valued they are.
