Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am originally from Argentina where my hometown, San Juan, was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1944. It was rebuilt and I grew up in a modern city full of hope, and with a guaranteed safe roof over my head. This was made possible with the help of thousands of people over many long years. Thanks to this, I had the chance of a normal life.
During my university years, I studied earthquakes in Sendai, Japan. In 2011, this city and the north east coast of Japan was ravaged by an earthquake followed by the most destructive tsunami ever recorded. I visited the area recently and the amount of ongoing engineering work needed to guarantee a safe place to live is phenomenal. Luckily, Japan has the resources to achieve this. They too will make sure people have the chance of a normal life again.
I understand the scale of the sustained effort that is needed for the people of Nepal, in particular the youngsters, to rebuild their country and get basic facilities up and running. I also know that it is going to be a long road ahead, pretty much like my 100K ultra marathon attempt through the jungle trails in Borneo.
Please support my attempt and the people of Nepal by donating a unit of your local currency for each of the 100 kilometers I am trying to complete on 29 August. If I am able to complete the 100km within the allocated 30 hours and you fully support my effort, I will match your donation ringit for ringit (or pound, euro, yen or dollar) out of my own pocket. This is my challenge back to you to keep my motivation high even in the middle of the night!
