Story
Assalamu Alaikum Dear Supporters,
I am an ex-student of the evening maktab at Ford Square mosque. I attended from 1983-86, and have some great memories of the red van picking us up 6 days a week (well at that age I didn’t think it would be a fond memory!!).
The teaching was excellent and helped me to keep the Qur’an close to my heart through out college, university and professional working life.
Since then the masjid has developed (the old main prayer hall is now the main wudu khana!) and also formed the London Islamic School, a faith school delivering the best of Islamic Theory and National Curriculum education . The school has recently been inspected by OfSted and is in line to retain it’s GOOD rating, last inspection was in 2014.
The masjid committee has also helped other communities to build their masjids in their local area, including my local area in Woodford.
The Masjid was granted planning permission to construct a new four storey building which will link to present building and works have already commenced with foundations being laid. When completed the project will achieve:
- Expansion of main prayer hall.
- Larger women's hall for educational and other activities.
- Extra classrooms for the London Islamic School
- Religious and social advice centre.
- Separate ablution and shower facilities for men and women
We need £6 million to construct the new buildings for this project. £2 million has already been raised through the grace of allah and the efforts of the local community and supporters.
You can help to build in the following ways:
- Make a Donation.
- Encourage others to donate.
