Hi! I've been working with Irise International where we empower young women, girls and people with periods to realise their full potential, unlimited by gender and period inequality.

Around 1 in 3 girls experience period poverty and stigma across the UK. When we talk about period poverty we don't just mean a limited ability to pay for products but also a lack of access, shame and stigma around periods and lack of education. 

Because of the pandemic, period poverty has increased by 20%. Irise International is working to ensure some of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities are not held back because of their period and existing gender inequalities. 

This July, I'll be marching across Sheffield dressed up as a bloody tampon - making noise and raising awareness about the stigma many young girls face because of their period. 

The money we raise as part of this challenge will fund peer-led training, safe spaces for girls, women and people with periods to learn about their bodies and dismantle internalised period shame, as well as receiving Empowerment Packs containing sustainable period products and accessible menstrual education. Together, we will empower vulnerable girls and women to reclaim their bodies and become leaders of their own lives. 

A donation of just £10 enables a vulnerable person to receive an Empowerment Pack, containing sustainable period products that will last them a whole year, as well as accessible menstrual education and other essential service information.
