ABOUT US

Hugo Tribbeck

Hugo is a Bishop Wordsworth's School student preparing to go up to year 8. He swims with the Salisbury Stingrays Swimming Club and said he'd like to participate in an English Channel relay when he was 10 after watching his dad complete a Solo crossing.

After joining the Stingrays aged 9 Hugo's swimming has gone from strength to strength under head Coach Chris White and currently competes up to regional level. He usually swims before and after school with the club and has also taken on extra sea training for this challenge to gain experience of swimming in waves and bad weather.

Loves: Jellyfish, beating his dad
Fears: The cold

Jon Tribbeck

Notable swim achievements include swimming Sweden's Longest race, the 22km Vidösternsimmet in 2018, and a solo English Channel crossing in 2019. Nowadays he can mainly be found hanging around swimming pools at unearthly times in the morning or realising that he is no longer made of elastic bands like his son, as he recovers from another training session.

Loves: Swimming to France
Fears:  Getting thrashed by Hugo

FUNDRAISING

We decided that we wanted to raise funds for a charity that supported children who were not as lucky as most of us to have the love and opportunity that most of us take for granted. We were aware of Hopes and Homes as they are based locally and have a great and well-deserved local and international reputation. Please take some time to visit their website at https://www.hopeandhomes.org and read their compelling story.

Every child needs someone who supports them & takes care of them, who wants them to be happy. Every child needs to know they are loved & they belong. Children never belong in orphanages. They don’t protect children, they harm them. And they are never necessary. Every child needs a family. They have been working to transform the lives of children in orphanages since 1994. Today are working with children in 30 countries with teams of skilled, local child-protection professionals to keep families together & reunite or build new families.

Orphanages do not protect children. They harm them. We are working towards a day when every child can grow up in a loving family. There are millions of children across the world confined to loveless orphanages. Over 80% of them are not orphans. It doesn’t have to be this way.
