Story
About three years ago, we found out that our son Nikolas has a rare genetic disorder, 18p deletion syndrome, that results in global development delay. Nikolas is mentally and physically disabled. The last three years have been an amazing journey with the little guy. He has made great strides and continues to enrich our lives on a daily basis. He is fun, courageous and has the most hilarious humor you could ever imagine.
Nikolas has started to walk and is learning to speak, he is working on jumping and he has learned to eat by himself. This is because of Brainwave, an amazing charity that has designed and overseen his therapy programme throughout the last two years. Nikolas loves the place, we love the place, and even his little sister Frida-Sofia has come to love it. The staff is committed to the children one hundred percent and do outstanding work helping them achieve their full potential.
Although I am not a great runner, it is time to give back, to Nikolas and to Brainwave. Nikolas challenges himself every day, so I decided to challenge myself once. He is my inspiration in all of this and the thought of having him there when I cross the finish line makes it worthwhile.
Donations will go to providing equipment, training and resources for Brainwave so that they can go on helping other incredible kids like Nikolas.
